Dr Mike Charlton is Lecturer in Archaeomaterials at the UCL Institute of Archaeology, where he earned his PhD with a thesis on Ironworking in Northwest Wales: An Evolutionary Analysis.

He is Degree Programme Co-ordinator for the MSc in Archaeological Science: Technology and Materials, Head of the Wolfson Archaeological Science Laboratories at the UCL Institute of Archaeology, and Chairman of the Historical Metallurgy Society.
